Abstract
DALAM network relates to SDG 10 (Reduced Inequality). The purpose of DALAM network is to build a sustainable future with reducing inequalities. A new global arctic network among polar librarians and archivists was established in 2022 with emphasis on promoting the inclusion of all and reducing inequalities of outcome by eliminating discriminatory practices and promoting appropriate policies and tools. DALAM is open for all.
DALAM is one of the thematic networks of the University of the Arctic (UArctic). UArctic is a network of universities, colleges, research institutes, and other organizations concerned with education and research in and about the North. UArctic builds and strengthens collective resources and infrastructures that enable member institutions to better serve their constituents and their regions.
DALAM, Thematic Network on Decolonizing of Arctic Library and Archives Metadata, works in the area of decolonization of metadata, descriptive cataloguing, archival description, classification systems, subject headings, and other terminology that is used by libraries and archives. The network serves as a community of practice for librarians, archivists and information professionals who work in this area. DALAM network includes now 27 members from 21 Arctic institutions.
