| dc.description.abstract | "IFLA's Medium Term Programme (MTP) coven a historical period of about two decades. In 1963, 'Libraries in the World' was published as a long-term guide for IFLA's professional activities. Its successor for the years 1976 to 1981 was the first MTP, published in 1976, followed by the second MTP for the years 1981 to 1985, published in 1982. For the period 1986 to 1991, this third MTP has been compiled by the Professional Board of IFLA through a small Working Group. The aim of this document is to define the course that this international federation would like to pursue up to the beginning of the nineties, both for its membership and in relation to organisations and institutions outside of IFLA."
