This issue of the IFLA Journal explores global trends in library and information science, focusing on information access, technology, and professional development. Articles examine initiatives in Asia and Africa to modernize library services, implement IT-based solutions, and develop human resources. Topics include the digital divide, community information services, electronic publishing, and user-centered library planning. Case studies from Tanzania, Japan, the UK, and Hong Kong illustrate how libraries respond to local needs while adapting to global shifts. The issue also discusses strategies for knowledge management and collaborative learning environments. Together, these contributions highlight the importance of innovation, inclusivity, and professional engagement in building effective information services in a changing world.
