There is increasing awareness that sustainable development requires effective government. Libraries have a major role to play in delivering this, as part of their broader mission to provide access to information. This briefing explores how libraries can support better policy-making, make it easier for citizens to engage with government services and make use of their rights, and help ensure transparency and accountability. It also introduces the Open Government Partnership as an initiative which could offer scope to libraries to make their role known.en_US
