Centre for Continuing Education of Librarians in the Republic of Croatia: the current state and plans for further education

Abstract

Since 2002 the Centre for Continuing Education of Librarians in the Republic of Croatia (Centar za stalno stručno usavršavanje knjižničara u RH – CSSU) has been running lifelong learning and continuing education programmes for librarians from all types of libraries and vast community of specialists from heritage institutions. After attending the course, attendees receive a certificate issued by the Centre for the purpose of registering lifelong learning activities and for the professional advancement. Annual programmes of continuing education offer news in the library and information science field as well as information and communication technologies on a regular basis. The intention of this poster presentation is to demonstrate the work of the Centre through the thematic modules represented in the program, as well as numerical indicators related to its work in the last 5 years (the number of participants, the number of courses held, the hours of educational programmes). The objective is also to emphasise the Centre’s importance when it comes to changes within profession, as well as in the context of development of new technologies and teaching methods. Thereby, the data related to the organization of webinars within the Centre since 2018 will be presented as well as the plans for further education. The emphasis will be placed on new forms of cooperation and the strengthening of the digital competences of librarians and library users, and the use of modern technologies.
