Abstract

The Centre for Scientific Information (CSI) at the Ruđer Bošković Institute is committed to promoting scientific literacy and knowledge sharing, acting as a bridge between the public and the scientific community. Our commitment to promoting open access to knowledge is done through educational efforts and initiatives. During Open Access Week 2022, we organized a panel discussion, "Open for Climate Justice", that brought together experts from diverse fields dedicated to advancing a sustainable and equitable future. The discussion emphasized the role of open access to scientific information in addressing environmental challenges, highlighting the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration. Alongside the panel, we conducted a survey to obtain perceptions and knowledge about Open Access and climate justice. As we face unprecedented challenges, including climate change, pandemics, and social inequality, our mission to bridge the gap between science and society is increasingly crucial. By promoting collaboration and lifelong learning, we can contribute to addressing these challenges and creating a better world for future generations. Through our activities and partnerships, we hope to inspire others to join us in this important work, recognizing the vital role libraries and librarians play in sustainability and lifelong learning.
