Minutes of meeting: IFLA Regional Council, 13 January 2026

Abstract

The fifth meeting of the Regional Council 2025-2027 was held virtually on 13 January 2026. The meeting opened with updates from the Regional Council Chair and the Professional Council Chair, focusing on ongoing Professional Council work, internal policy review, and opportunities to strengthen collaboration between the Professional Council and Regional Council. Progress on Regional Division Committee (RDC) Action Plans was also reviewed, including their finalisation and use as shared, evolving documents to support cross-regional learning. Discussions centred on delivering the Regional Council Action Plan, with priority areas including leadership, outreach and communications, and advocacy and partnerships. Updates covered leadership coordination across regions, enhanced use of regional communication channels, and partnership development efforts at regional level. The Council also confirmed the composition of working groups and discussed plans for a first thematic deep-dive session, focusing on the Trend Report and its future development, alongside broader efforts to strengthen coordination and impact across IFLA structures.
