Abstract

The Car Free Day program is organized on the fourth week (Sunday) of every month. This program involved more than 40 government/private agencies and NGOS. This program provides opportunities for Ipoh residents and visitors to enjoy a relaxed and healthy atmosphere along a 2km stretch of Jalan Raja DiHilir. There are various programs and activities were organized by participating agencies and individuals. The Perak State Public Library Corporation was among the first government agencies that took part in the Car Free Day program since its inaugural event in 2015 with the following objectives: • To introduce and bring library services to the public; • Enhance cooperation, communication and public relations with other participating agencies; and • Expand the role of library services as stated in the vision, mission and objectives of the Perak State Public Library Corporation. Various activities were organized as follows: - • Drawing and Colouring Contest • Singing and dancing to children’s song and rhymes • Story telling sessions • Healthy eating and nutritious food display and preparation • Word Puzzle / Hide And Seek • Lego building • Handicraft activities such as dough designing, paper mache, patch work, and collage • Indoor games such as scrabble, chess, draughts and card games • Traditional Games – Congkak / Batu Seremban • Towel Handicraft • Flower arrangement • Quizzes • Exhibitions - Mobile Library, Day Without Tobacco, Tourist attractions in Perak, Ride To Hajj, Autism Awareness, Syndrome Down Awareness, History and the Process of Election in Malaysia, Womens Day Etc. • Photo Challenge@library, Photography Workshop, Drone Handling Workshop • Library Run - Run For Reading • Giant Snakes And Ladders Game • Street Soccer
