Celebrating 50 years of SEDIC: Innovation and commitment to scientific documentation and information and its professionals in Spain

The Spanish Society for Scientific Documentation and Information (SEDIC) celebrates its 50th anniversary by highlighting its pivotal role in the evolution of knowledge management and the advancement of the information profession in Spain. Since its founding in 1975, SEDIC has been a leading reference in training, innovation, and the professionalization of the information sector, while actively promoting best practices in libraries, archives, and documentation centers. This poster traces SEDIC's trajectory over five decades, showcasing key milestones, innovative projects, and its impact on the fields of library and information science. It also underscores SEDIC's strong commitment to digital transformation, artificial intelligence, the preservation of documentary heritage, open access, and the promotion of international standards for equitable information access. It also presents current and future initiatives such as training and mentoring programs, emerging professional profiles, dynamic working groups, and new opportunities for collaboration and networking.
