Minutes of Meeting: IFLA Regional Council, 9 December 2025

Abstract

The fourth meeting of the Regional Council 2025-2027 was held virtually on 9 December 2025. The meeting opened with updates from the Regional Council Chair, the Professional Council Chair, and Headquarters, covering developments in the Professional Council Action Plan, preparations for the World Library and Information Congress (WLIC), and wider strategic priorities, including financial sustainability, membership, and engagement.

Regional Division Committee Chairs presented their action plans, outlining priorities such as communication, leadership, advocacy, inclusion, and alignment with the UN SDGs, with discussion focusing on potential synergies across regions. Further items included communications updates, the development of a Regional Council communications plan, and progress on delivering the RC Action Plan. The Council also discussed the establishment of working groups on leadership, strategic communications, and advocacy and partnerships, as well as tools to support collaboration across IFLA structures.
