Abstract
National Training Center for Continuing Education of Librarians in Croatia (CSSU) recognizes the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) as a call for action to improve informal and non-formal lifelong education of librarians in Croatia. The aim of this poster is to give an overview of the most important aspects of SDGs framework that are represented in the work of the CSSU.
Some challenges in practice and plans for the sustainable future of professional development of librarians in Croatia will be indicated as well.
For twenty years CSSU, which operates as a part of the National and University Library in Zagreb, has been creating and implementing lifelong learning and professional development programs for librarians and heritage specialists from all parts of Croatia – from larger cities to small mainland and island towns and villages.
The educational programs have been structured and well organized. During that period CSSU organized more than 1,100 trainings for more than 24,000 participants. The main goal of CSSU is to provide equal opportunities for professional development and new competencies in the field of librarianship.
