Connecting Teaching and Research in School Libraries

Abstract

Inspired by the IFLA–UNESCO School Library Manifesto 2025, this poster presents school libraries as inclusive, creative, and research-informed learning environments that support quality education, access to information, literacy, critical thinking, collaboration, and student well-being.

The poster showcases the work of two school librarians, Dr. Maria Fe Nicolau from BINUS Simprug School in Jakarta, Indonesia, and Ms. Antonija Lujanac from Dobriša Cesarić Primary School in Zagreb, Croatia. Through the CTRL+ Erasmus+ project, they explore how educational research can be connected with everyday school practice through research literacy, collaborative inquiry, and the Research Lead role.

In their school libraries, project ideas are translated into hands-on learning experiences, curated resources, reflective inquiry, inclusive learning spaces, and international professional exchange. The poster also highlights the authors’ long-term collaboration through Global Librarians, International Association of School Librarianship, Erasmus+ projects, virtual digital storytelling, conferences, and professional development activities for school librarians and teachers.

By connecting local practice with global professional networks, the poster demonstrates how school libraries can become dynamic hubs for innovation, inclusion, teaching, research, and lifelong learning.
