The library as influencer in the scientific world: the social impact of this very special work!

Abstract

In the framework of the scientific information transfer cycle, the research library can motivate users where to direct their efforts; either to the success of the scientific community itself or to the solution of specific problems in their region or country, or both, and other achievements, which in a holistic way impact on the society of which they are a part. Some of the ACRL toolkits offer interesting recommendations to motivate, provoke or persuade the user, always within the academic and research framework, and considering scientific work as a social value. Two ACRL toolkits are the basis for the CINVESTAV-Saltillo toolkit on the social impact of scientific work.

En el marco del ciclo de transferencia de la información científica, la biblioteca que sirve en el ámbito de la investigación puede motivar a los usuarios hacia dónde dirigir su esfuerzo; ya hacia el éxito en la propia comunidad de científicos, ya hacia la solución de problemas concretos de su región o país o bien, ambos caminos y otros logros, que, de un modo integral, impacten en la sociedad de la que son parte. Algunas de las Association of College & Research Libraries (ACRL-ALA) toolkits, ofrecen recomendaciones interesantes para motivar, provocar o persuadir al usuario, siempre en el marco académico y de investigación, y considerando al trabajo científico como un bien social. Dos ACRL toolkits son la base para la CINVESTAV-Saltillo toolkit sobre impacto social del trabajo científico.
