Abstract: Irresistibly, short-videos for fun and as social media are becoming more and more popular worldwide, which shaped people's expressing and sharing ways. Academic library patrons are no exception. In order to meet the challenges and opportunities brought by short-video with an open mind, From 2022 to 2023, Xiamen University Library launched 2 sessions Knowledge discovery short-video competition. The theme was The Whimsy about digital resources and Exploring the traditional culture and current science. The competition encouraged patrons to explore and share any knowledge about digital resources and tool. In the process, librarian and invited instructors gave any help they need. Ultimately, we selected over 60 short videos and open to the whole society. Some of them have over 40,000 hits online. Those short-videos are about free data analysis toolkits, International Dunhuang Project, searching strategies in digital resources, history of Amoy Seawalls, etc. For skilled video creators, it was an opportunity to shot the process of knowledge discovery. For patrons who familiar with resource and tools, they could try expressing themselves in a new way. Others could learn in an interesting way and get multiple literacies improved. For librarians, they can be close to patrons and promote library resources in a new way. For library resources vendors, it means promoting resources and enhancing social image. For academic library, it’s co-creating online world with patrons in digital transformation age.
