Libraries integrated into infotainment systems in modern cars

Abstract

During the information era, the need of advancing technologies in every aspect of our daily lives, is rising. One important aspect that everyone uses, is transportation. Dividing transportation in subcategories, we will find personal cars as one of the most common and popular ways of travel. Now as days pass car manufactures are advancing their technologies related to usability to the passengers and the driver of the car. According to public opinion, infotainment systems are now becoming the main interest of this matter. Using infotainment systems at their maximum abilities and designing systems with multi-functional purposes, is one of the concerns of every car manufacturer. Lots of money is invested in such designs and every new model of any well-known car manufacturing company, presents new abilities and features in infotainment matter. Librarianship and information science, can have a part in adding new capabilities to the infotainment systems of cars. our overall purpose is integrating online libraries into infotainment systems as a new feature with huge amounts of functionality. Everyone has information needs and libraries and information experts can fulfill that need easily. Passengers of a traveling car are no different; by having access to online libraries and/or information scientists and experts through infotainment systems of the car, they can be entertained, yet informed by the newly received information, while traveling on the road.
