Abstract

This issue of the IFLA Journal presents global research on evolving roles of libraries in society, particularly focusing on information literacy, public policy, and historical perspectives. Articles analyze library education in Kenya, the development of information policies in Japan, and the professional discourse in library and information science. Contributions also examine how libraries adapt to new social expectations and technologies, using case studies from Asia, Africa, and Europe. The issue highlights how libraries are not only adapting to the digital environment but are also shaping cultural, educational, and political change in diverse regional contexts.
