Abstract
The latest meeting of the World Intellectual Property Organization’s (WIPO) Standing Committee on Copyright and Related Rights (SCCR) featured renewed discussions on how to shape copyright laws that better serve libraries.
Delegates from across the globe expressed strong support for the mission of libraries, alongside archives, museums, educational, and research institutions. Their statements underscored a shared commitment to ensuring access to knowledge and preserving cultural heritage.
While further meetings will be needed to determine the path forward, the words of the delegates reflect a growing consensus around the need for meaningful action.
IFLA extends its gratitude to its members for actively engaging with their governments to promote positive positions, and looks ahead to the next SCCR session in June 2020.
