Abstract

The present research analyses the scientific collaboration network among American University of Beirut Medical Center (AUBMC) researchers and other medical institutions in the world. The aim is to learn if scholars who work in the same field, same geographical distance and same affiliation show similar collaboration patterns. The dataset was downloaded from Scopus and Web of Science and a total of 3300 articles were examined. Two criteria were taken into consideration: country and department. The study showed that AUBMC scholars tend to collaborate more among themselves and others from the United States and Europe. They collaborate less with other Lebanese institutions and institutions from the Arab world. The investigation of this topic brings practical implications such as re-allocation of resources depending on the collaboration pattern among scholars.
