Abstract

“What separates design from art is that design is meant to be…functional” (C. Moll). The Lebanese Library Association (LLA) is the national home of libraries and information professionals in Lebanon. It provides leadership for the development, promotion and enhancement of the information sector in the country. LLA website was created a decade ago and did not receive any changes since. It was about time to redesign it to make the most out of our online presence. We serve an average of 300 members and aim to reach out to more information professionals in the coming years. We created a new identity and a digital content which complies with the latest usability patterns and standards while engaging the audience in a simple but beautiful interactive website. What distinguishes this redesign is that it took into consideration the expectations of a representative sample from the information community which was engaged in the structuring of the pages.
