Powering Transformation for Planet and People Discussion Paper

Abstract

At the World Library and Information Congress (WLIC) 2026, thought-leaders from the library field and beyond were invited to discuss how libraries can power transformation in key areas. In this session, a consistent message emerged: libraries are already equipped with an important tool for transformation: their role as trusted providers of knowledge and their close connection to communities. You are invited to imagine how libraries can contribute to a greener, more resilient and equitable future. Use this Discussion Paper to spark further conversation, imagination, and action.
